People still manage to amaze me with their “thought processes”

I finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End last night; it was good, though it could have used some trimming in spots, but that’s not the purpose behind this entry…the movie was just the setting for something that still sticks in my mind.
As in most movie theatres, we get ads, but we also get the occasional music video - currently, it’s “Dance Tonight” from Paul McCartney’s new album, “Memory Almost Full.” For those who haven’t seen it yet, the plot is as follows:
A mail carrier delivers a large box to Sir Paul’s estate. The box contains a mandolin and as Paul begins to play it, “spirits” begin to appear - a figure clad in cutlery climbs out of the silverware drawer, a “clothes” spirit crawls from the washing machine, and so on - and they follow Paul around the house as the song progresses. As the spirits go back into the house, they become mixed up - for example, the “tree branch spirits” get in the silverware drawer and we see the cutlery has now been replaced by twigs, the “clothes spirit” climbs into the fireplace which becomes the washing machine, etc. - and, because Paul has become as insubstantial as they are, he is pulled into the box by the “mandolin spirit,” a pretty girl. The video ends with the camera following Paul into the box, showing us a pub where all of the “spirits,” still in costume, are having a good time while Paul plays bass as part of a small band.
It’s not a bad video, although having seen it the last 3 times I’ve been to a movie has dulled my appreciation of it a little. This time, however, a woman sitting behind me made what is, in my opinion, one of the weirdest criticisms of a music video…
She complained that what took her out of the video was that Paul was wandering around his house while playing an electric mandolin that wasn’t plugged into anything.
Think about this for a moment…we’re watching spirits prancing around a house looking like an old-style double-exposure special effect, the Royal Mail carrier is, at one point, suspended in air because these same spirits are playing with him, a couple of the same spirits are playing Pong in the library with the “blip” moving back and forth across rows of books, and this person says that playing an unplugged mandolin is removed from reality?
I don’t know what she was taking but dammit, I WANT SOME.
